WWDC Keynote gone…

So, like everyone MacWorld and WWDC event, another event flies by (well the main keynote anyway…) and as ever, no news on a ‘iPhone’. I wonder for how many more years will we hear suggestions of the said device. There’s still no doubt there’s a market for it, it’s more a question of whether Apple considers creating a device, would actually be detrimental to iPod sales…

Regardless of all that, WWDC did bring a few jokes (at Microsoft’s expense no less), and some interesting announcements about what’s after Tiger (apparently a Leopard – maybe we should ask Apple, what came after the egg? – A Chicken?! ) and also what’s after the PowerMac G5… The Mac Pro, apparently which boasts very attractive specs indeed, not that I am all too interested personally, I’ve just moved away from the ‘desktop experience’, all I need now is an upgrade from PPC to Intel I suppose…

Apple suggests much of Leopard is still ‘under wraps’ and I can quite believe it, with regards to what cats, Apple did let out of the bag (heh… Get it? ). Whilst some of the features touted are nice, much of what is shown isn’t exactly groundbreaking, but more complimentary to apps already embedded inside Tiger – maybe we expect too much? Well, if we do, we sure didn’t expect this…

Time Machine

Time Machine is, well an automated backup system, which even your mom could use (…probably because it’s automated?). It really does look extremely intuitive to use, and I welcome it with open arms, after previously using CronTabs and CarbonCopyCloner to image my hard drive to my external drive. Take a look at Time Machine, here

The keynote for the whole event, is also available, here

Engadget has a top post about the keynote, with accompanied stills, here

I guess now the big Apple news is now over, I can blog, less ‘techy’ now, eh? – I’ll try… :P
