Abba Athletic 2 Bloxham 3
Sheesh. Just got done cleaning my sparkling white boots, after today’s game. I thought it’d be best to do it now, whilst I still the enthusiasm to tackle the clumps of mud! I was a bit disapointed to not start this game, but it’ll happen from time to time. I was promised to come about 45mins and playing my usual attacking midfield/playmaker role, but the game didn’t pan out so, so we had to switch back to a regular 4-4-2. By half time, we were 2-0 down, and it wasn’t looking good. Abba weren’t particularly good, infact i’d say they were rubbish, but they managed to nab a goal, and another through a Paul Robinson like error. Our 2nd half performance was quality though, and we created many chances, it was like a different team. Oli nabbed two from the right ring, both having a cross like tendencies to them, but alas, fair play mate. I did get chance to come on (does it count as my league debut?) with about 20mins to go, playing the more ‘assigned’ role of last man in attack. I don’t mind it, and I COULD get used to it, but it’s not my game, as much as the manager now knows it, he seems to have faith that role should be mine. I guess I did myself the world of good, snatching the winner with about 5mins to go. It wasn’t a finish i’m usually down for, it came across from the left, I chested it, nodded it away from another defender, and finally volleyed it from about 6 yards! Usually i’m not so good with keep-ups, so that feat alone was quite something, but It’s satisfying looking back, when I realize i did it all, without actually thinking about what I was doing!
So yeah, a good debut for me and my new boots, long may it continue, hopefully i’ll get a start next week! Bit annoying though, ANOTHER 2 cup matches lined up, for god sakes!
Awesome to see Oxford Utd nab a 1-0 victory away @ Dag. & Redbridge, a non-league thriller no doubt?! That puts us through to the FA Cup first round, proper, away to local rivals Wycombe. Should be a good game!
Equally great to see Wayne Rooney grab a hat-trick in Man Utd’s demolition of Bolton Wanderers @ The Reebok. An amazing result for a form team, who usually give us a problem or two…
