So, i’ve always been a huge fan of the Ghost Recon franchise, and maybe none more so, than GRAW. I battered the single player in both skill dificulties in no-time, and of late, i’ve rekindled my love for the game, in multiplayer co-op most of all. However, back in the day, my Xbox 360 screwed up on me a bit, it actually got to a stage where it ceased to read optical media at all, and thus Microsoft replaced it. One thing I should of mentioned, but didn’t at the time was that my GRAW disc was actually torn up by that Xbox too. Many Xbox 360 user will be familar with the stories of Xbox 360 scoring an outer ring (no Halo jokes, please!) around the rim of the disc. It left my GRAW disc in a pretty bad looking state, yet other than getting the game to load initially, the game did actually work well. As I said, it did have problems loading, it often presented me with ‘Please insert this disc into an Xbox 360 to play’, but eject, try again cured it after a few attempts. However, recently it appears it’s life has deteriorated, even further, with most of the maps causing the game to freeze on load. I didn’t really notice this, because i’ve been playing the 4 Chapter 2 maps, mostly, but now it’s getting ‘beyond a joke’. If I join public matches, often the host changes to a default bundled map, which leaves me with a frozen Xbox, and a party of folks wondering what happened to ‘neyo‘.

So, now i’m looking for a way to resolve this, typically I wouldn’t care, but I LOVE GRAW, and I need a fix one way or another.

• - I did email Microsoft, but my hopes of some sort of settlement there are slim, my only hope is that they’ll take pity on me because my console was faulty.
• - Ubisoft? I could call them, though it looks i have to pay £0.30 a minute for the pleasure of it, and I’ve read stories that they won’t help me, so that leaves me a little more reluctant.
• - Buy a new copy? Tempting, but with the ‘Game of the year’ edition of GRAW (GRAW + Chapter 2 content etc) due out mid november, it’s a bad time to lay down hard cash. Plus of course Gears Of War, and Rainbow Six:Vegas hit in November, too!
• - Other avenues? Well, there are ‘other’ ways of getting a copy, in less than fair ways, which I am reluctant to go down. I’ve always been a fair and decent fella, but y’know…
