So then, the crack!

After a little blog posting hiatus, I return! Exciting huh? Hardly… Well, things are definitely about to change! :) Since last time I’ve posted, i’ve made my mind up, in joining a friend of mine, travelling around the world. She’s leaving, April 1st, and so long as the flights have a seat free, so will I be. I’ve ‘acquired’ the money, all I’ve got to do now, is hit up the travel agents and duplicate my friends ticket, and i’m on my way. I really cannot wait, it’s crazy to think, in 2 months time i’m likely to be in New York! Where am I travelling, how long?

Well the plan is 6 months, spanning the width of USA, starting in NY and ending up in LA, about a month later. From there, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia and then finishing off in Thailand, before a probably exhausting flight back to London, October 1st. 8)

I’d love to keep a blog up to date, as I travel, but realistically, it’s stupid to carry a notebook with me, and it’ll be time consuming to sit in Cafe’s often to do it, let alone simply being a ‘vacation’. I’ll probably just carry a ‘diary’ with me, and note down stuff to pass time as we trek across the USA and Oz, i’m sure they’ll be plenty of time spare.

Anyone reading this, done much travelling? Anything worth keeping an eye for, any tips? I’ve never done anything ‘like this’, so anything anyone has to say in regards to this would be really appreciated. :)

Notes to self:

- Call STA, arrange appointment.

- Call Doc, arrange Jabs (:().

- Shop for travel insurance.

- Shop for gear.

- Sell off some of my gear; anyone interested in a PowerBook, PSP (3.03OE-C), maybe a 2 week old iPod (60Gb), Xbox 360 games…

Wow man, that sounds mega. I haven’t done much travelling myself but the missus has. Her best tip is to buy as many guide books to the main cities you’ll be visiting.

Lonely planet are excellent. Tell you the best places to stay, eat, things to see and little tips about different cities. They also accomodate the people on tight budgets.

I’m planning a rail trip around europe at the moment so my money situation is a bit tight but i may buy some of that stuff off you depending on the price. Hit me up on Gchat when you have time.

I’m sure you’ll have a great time travelling, just remember take loads of pictures and to budget per country :)

Also, when you’ve got a mo, ping me on MSN. I’ve got some tips for you for when you venture over to Thailand (I used to live in Bangkok).

Cheers for your positive comments guys.

Matt – A rail trip round europe sounds really cool man, I wouldn’t mind doing that myself in the future. Only thing that puts me off there, is all those countries have crazy and different languages to combat!

Christina – Hey Sweetie, i’ve not heard from you in ages, I guess you’re too busy with your new(ish) man, huh? That’s a very kind offer, and one day I will actually take you up on that. I won’t be in Europe, or even close really, so I can’t really drop by and say Hi. I do think you should come to London in the winter though, deal?

Luke – As I said on MSN mate, thanks for all your insights into Thailand, top man! :)

    Fantastic news!!

Just read Luke N’s blog on your gallant trip!

Hope you have a fantastic time, NY rocks – you have to visit the Empire State, up 80+ floors in under a minute, ears pop, then another elevator, for a few floors and there you are. On top of the world.
