A weekend of gaming – mostly…

With me being woeful at actually saving money, and there being a rather tidy amount in my bank account (sat dormant for April to arrive) i’ve come to realize I must try my hardest to spend weekends at home. As it is, football tends to lure me into the bar and waste money left, right and centre, but luckily for me, one guilty pleasure manages to save me from a woman’s like tendency to spend; gaming.

After playing a sizable amount of Rainbow Six Vegas, I set myself the challenge of becoming a ‘Rainbow Six Legend‘ this weekend, and by Saturday it was done, dusted and over with. I had to trawl through Dante’s (this is a long mission, eh?) and the depths of the biggest Dam you surely can fast rope down. Now, on realistic, there sure is moments that is insanely frustrating, and I cannot deny I swore at the TV ALOT this weekend. I’m glad it’s done now, and I did enjoy it somewhat (not as much as GRAW though ;) ). After finishing that, It seemed natural to move onto something else I wanted to ‘finish’ before I leave for travelling (and/or sell this game), and somehow I managed to complete all terrorist hunt missions on realistic. Quite a feat actually, if I do say so myself; I know just how hard it is, after playing it through on split screen with my bro, only to find out the achievement description is all WRONG! Psshaa… So yeah, Vegas is nigh on complete now, good job too, I expect my fellow comrades to see my example and work their way through all this, by the time October swings by – I will be checking.
Saturday night, a buddy of mine comes round, and he’s always had a tendecy to enjoy, yet be scared from games like Resident Evil. Well, it just so happens we finally acquired a copy of Resident Evil 4, for Gamecube (well, Wii… :P ), so we started that. SIX (yes, six) hours later, we were both fairly knackered, it was nigh on 3am and we’d both jumped a couple of times. For those having played it, ummm… It was the part where were seemingly playing ‘Deal or no deal’ with wooden crates, only to find no deal actually means, meet King Cobra – Wow, hardly fair?! I’ve always wanted to play RE4, i’ve enjoyed the earlier titles on the Playstation so I knew it’d be a hit, but the new gameplay design really did make it sound all the more appealing. After 6 hours, I am loving it, not only the gameplay, but i’m shocked by the visuals too. I didn’t know the Gamecube was capable of making a game look so good. So yeah, any Wii owners having not played this game, really should pick it up on the cheap, it’s quality. Let’s face it, we do need a real game that doesn’t involve ‘The elephant nose’ or mysteriously turning you into a wolf, pixie… No, wolf? I had to go see what score 1up gave it and sure enough, it acquired a 9.6 back in 2005… ;)

Speaking of Nintendo, my aunt came over today, finally collected some Christmas presents (I was saving them, for THIS year coming… :P ), and I happened to mention the Wii. She, as expected didn’t really know what it was, or how it worked, so I dragged her and her partner onto the arena floor that is my living for some 4 player Wii bowling. Now, it’s a testement to Nintendo, just how quick these two technophobes could pickup the Wii, and the game(s) itself. It really is impressive, considering 10 minutes earlier she was fumbling to write down a bloody email address. Alas, they both REALLY enjoyed it, and it seems like she might actually pick one up in the future… Sounds like the Wii really could be breaking into new markets here…
Also really enjoying playing Pro Evo 6 with two close mates of mine, both playing as ‘AnyBeef‘, Matt, Mike… Cheers, though i’d enjoy it more if I won more often. :(

…Still haven’t received my camera yet too, let’s hope that arrives today, I want to have a play! :P
