Bit of an odd day today. Usually, I get to work on my bike, I enjoy the exercise most of all, but today I had to walk after leaving it at work last night. So instead, I decided to get the bus, which annoyingly caused me to have to wait the best part of an hour for the bloody thing. It arrived, and finally I got into town, already really late for work at this point. I have to admit, I did have intentions of being late, with my bag being stuffed quite full with Xbox games from the bottom of my closet. I cleared my bag of those, in the local gamestation to the sounds of £38 which isn’t bad for games you’re not likely to ever play again, right? After that, I trekked back to the baguette shop, which is next door to a fairly newly opened Michael Jones jewellery store. After picking my baguette (Chicken Tikka/Salad & Mayo!), I set off for work, and just about missed the major talking point for the day. Police were rushing past me, only minutes later as i’m a good way stuffing my face, after the jewellery store had been robbed. The Banbury Guardian writes:

“One witness described how two cars, an Audi A3 and a Honda Civic, pulled up outside the shop. The Honda then reversed into the shop front. About six men, wearing black balaclavas and wielding hammers and axes, got out the cars and smashed the glass.”

I literally JUST missed the robbery, which maybe doesn’t seem so much; but when it happens right under your nose, in a very ‘Crimewatch’ like scene, it’s quite something. You never really imagine this thing to happen in your town, but now that it has, I wonder if I can get a cheap travel watch on the cheap?!
