Busy times!

Ok, so it’s been a few days since I blogged, been upto all kinds, Its nice to know some of my friends MIGHT miss me! :) Sunday, I spent the day in Milton Keynes, scoping for things that I ought to take with me, backpacking. As it turns out, there isn’t really any shops orientated around travelling at all, which is kind of odd, for a place that size. Good job I have one back at home, eh? I’ve found myself taking my camera with me (especially as it’s small too), and so I’ve put up some pictures on my Facebook gallery. If Jay somehow manages to finish my Photoblog before I leave, i’ll use that, but Facebook isn’t actually too bad for sharing photo’s, it’s nice and clean, I encourage anyone who cares to keep upto date, to get an account and send me a friend request! :)

I’m gonna have to hookup my camera, and download those pictures from there, too! :)

As it happens though, those pictures aren’t from my camera, but actually my new phone. Yeah, I didn’t expect to pickup a new phone, either, but Vodafone all but forced it upon me. I’d agreed a cancellation date for my contract with them, by which time i’d be moved onto a ‘Pay as you talk’ tariff. However, someone from Vodafone called me, and talked me into taking out an alternative package, using ‘Vodafone Passport’ for an extra 12 months. It also entitled me to a new phone, and it was in my grubby hands, in less than 24hrs, great service there.

The tariff itself, sounds quite reasonable, with a £10 a month line rental, which offers 75mins of anytime/any network calls, with a per call connection fee of 75p. This is only avaliable in countries with Vodafone coverage though, which definitely covers Australia, New Zealand & maybe Hong Kong, although i’m not sure on that. Apparently it’ll be free for me to receive SMS, but I presume only when i’m on Vodafone, and not roaming on the likes of Cingular in the US. You’d of thought Vodafone would have a service in the USA though, they seem to be everywhere, BUT the USA!

The phone is the Sony Ericsson W880i, in many ways a sidestep from my W900i, but at the price of zero of the queen’s gold, who am I to argue? It’s a nice phone, with obviously the emphasis on being super slim – ideal considering it’ll be lugged around ALOT in the next 6 months! I could harp on about all the features, but yeah, if you’re curious ask me! :)

So, 6 days to go, still don’t really feel ready, but hey. I do have one question for my supposed loyal readers:

Travel insurance, i’ve still got to sort out, but i’ve got a quote with World Nomads, which is £161 for 6 months cover including the USA. But the question is, do I lay down a further £50 for cover which would include my W880i, DSC-T50, and 60Gb iPod? Opinions?
Oh, thanks to Matt Collins (no blog?) too, for buying my PSP off me, I received your cheque this morning mate. I know it didn’t exactly take much convincing, especially at that price, but thanks regardless, that money will goto a worthy, and poor charity case – me. I’ll get the PSP to you by the end of the week, things are so manic at the moment!

With the insurance it depends what it includes. Would they replace it? If so, go for it, definitely. It will be worth it if you lose anything.
