The first stop…

For those ‘on the list’ you would of read this, if you didn’t, my bad… Leave a comment and i’ll add you – I won’t always blog, it’s more effort!!

Hey! Maybe a little too early, for a first email, but we had to come online to find some information on Greyhound (coach) travel. Not sure where we’ll be setting off to next, probably down the east coast, maybe Washington. That’s if we manage to get the Greyhound business sorted out! It took us way longer than it ought to, to find it – 42nd on 8th Ave. Yeah sounds cryptic, doesn’t it? It ‘seems’ like roads going West/East are typically numbered (ie 101st Street) and roads going north/south are labeled the same, but as avenues. Maybe I got it all wrong, but alas we’ve already found Ground zero & Statue of Liberty too, so we can’t be doing too bad. I have to be honest in saying that Ground Zero, for me wasn’t all that. I don’t know what I expected, but maybe a little more than a construction site. There was some kind of memorial piece, but it wasn’t very much, and the highlight was easily some fanatical person trying to relay the ‘true’ message of 9/11. Think of one those eccentric holy fella’s you meet in Oxford st. and you’d be on the right track! We only met him because he was getting verbally abused by some chick who looked fresh from Jerry Springer, she must have some relations or something to do with it all, because she was going mental! The Statue of Liberty was kinda cool I guess, though smaller than you imagine it to be. We got a ferry across to Staten Island, where it lives, and had a little wonder, but like all statues, the excitement is shortlived! I’ve got the pics to say i’ve been there though, that’ something! That’s taken up most of our day really, we’ve trekked alot, through Times Square and met some interesting characters. On the subway coming back (we’re staying at 101st) from Times Square (42nd) there was another fella who was preaching loudly in the corner. Quite funny really, he sounded TOTALLY pissed and everyone was laughing their face off. We had a delay, ironically, which left us stationary, sweating, listening to this guy talk about peace, freedom, and err… Atomic bombs – yeah go figure. Things so far have gone well really though, the place we’re staying is basic I suppose, but it’s New York – what can you expect from $23 a night? I’ve slept, had a shower, it’s all been good! Not found a place ‘yet’, to watch the football Weds, but trust me, it’s high on the list of things to do, before we leave – likely to be thursday. I’m still hoping someone can get me through a list of matches I NEED to see whilst i’m away. When’s Man Utd vs Chelsea? Man Utd vs Roma (2nd leg?). It’s funny, I am sure I have more to say, but with a timer sat at 3.20mins left, I cannot for the life of me think what i’ve got else to say… I’m sure i’ll be back on, in a few days, with more tales to share. Hit me up, tell me i’m missing – much? Weather’s been very British in the main here, though we’ve had glimpses of sun this afternoon. Hopefully we’ll head out back to Times Square in a bit, and see how mental it looks in the moonlight. :) Take it easy folks, and i’ll be in touch quite soon. :) Steve

Statue of liberty is on Ellis Island. HOpe your enjoying yo utrip to NY more than I’m enjoying my time in London. Living in essex and going to hackney everyday wasn’t exactly the vaca I planned.hopefully i can get some sightseeing done before I go back To NY.
