Wha’ya been playing? pt one

Ok, so i’m half way around the world, and one thing i’ve not talked about in my 3-4 months away, is games. Love them back home, but half-way around the world, in someone else’s back yard it’s a whole different ‘kettle of fish’. With no Xbox 360, and most definitely NOT the mega money needed for a PS3, i’ve resorted to 2 newer platforms to game on, the first, my cell phone…

Before I left England, I did decide to get a few games for my phone, a Sony Ericsson W880i. To be honest, I didn’t expect to actually play them, who plays games on their cell phone, really? Well, within a few days of travelling, I started…

Brain Genius – Not much of a surprise really, I was always somewhat interested by the craze that followed Nintendo’s Brain Age title. I decided to start playing in New York, and haven’t stopped since, knocking up 58 days training from a possible 90 or so. Not bad, ay? Does it work? Well, it’s a mobile game, I’m not sure if it’d really turn me into Michelangelo or Einstein, like it often compares me to, but it is nice to do some simple problem solving. Surely things like this can only be for some good, even if it’s not a great deal? I’d recommend it though, sure, if you’re looking for easy to pickup and play games, on your mobile…

Lumines Mobile – So this is more of a recent thing, hadn’t really touched the game, til I hit the south Island of New Zealand, but talk about addicted. Found myself battling away through the arcade mode, and spent hours completing both easy and normal modes. Hard, is only 20% away from completion too, I am loving it. I’d say it’s the best mobile game i’ve ever played, obviously suited, due to the nature of the game, to a simple input device like a cell phone. Beyond Arcade mode, i’ve had fun unlocking new skins and having a blast in Challenge mode, knocking out 350,000 or so over 80 odd minutes – impressive for a cell phone game, you have to agree?! I am thinking I might have to pickup this game, on my Xbox 360, when I return home, addicted! I can see this game being very useful, tomorrow on my flight to Sydney, good job I have flight mode on my phone, huh? :)

Cannon Fodder Mobile -
So, I remember the Amiga, I remember Sensible Soccer, and of course Cannon Fodder, and thankfully the game hasn’t really changed at all. If you enjoyed the original, you’d love this too. The pace of the game, is maybe a little slower than I remember, but given that it takes slightly longer to restle with your phone to move around the world, it’s welcomed. That’s not to say it’s not a good game, i’ve played it a fair bit whilst seeing the wonders of the world.

So that actually went on for longer than i’d expected, I guess I’ll resume ‘Part. 2′ another day… Anyone, reading, play games on their mobile?
