Manchester, Day 2…

So, it’s day 2 of my new ‘adventure’ in the north. It’s fair to say that it still doesn’t feel like home, but all in good time, it’s not going to happen overnight. I got some much needed sleep though, thank god, I didn’t drag my butt from slumber til 2.30pm today, though in my defence i was trying to tackle getting my PowerBook online over bluetooth & 3G til maybe 3.30am!

Went to watch United against Chelsea today, and it felt quite different, being in Manchester watching the game. Typically in my home town, Arsenal, Chelsea, United and Liverpool have about equal support really. I’m told Manchester has more Manchester City supporters, and early observations seems so, especially as I can see the stadium from my place! Despite all that, on the way down in and throug Picadilly, there were red shirts everywhere, and the pub we watched the game in was full of them. I can’t deny many sounded like Devvo (please Google), but it was still nice. Weather was typically Manc like though, it’s been basically raining lightly all day long and it’s a bit depressing, i’m told ‘get used to it’… Awesome. The game itself was good in some ways. Not only did we win, 2-0, but also Tevez got off to scoring, which he clearly needed. The second goal, a penalty came long after Jon Obi Mikel was shown a straight red card for a tackle on Patrice Eva. Whilst it looked somewhat malicious, it’s hard for most people to say it was a definitive red card. Many fans around me, myself included felt luck was somewhat on our side with that decision! The second goal came late on in, with Louis Saha coming off the bench, his pace and alternative way of playing was quickly evident. Run full pace in and around the box can always lead to a trip, and again it wasn’t the worst tackle you’d ever seen, which resulted in a penalty. Tal Ben Haim surely stuck his foot out, but Louis Saha’s acrobatics there-after did alot to make it worse than it really was. Despite that, he got up, and made no mistake with the spot kick, blasting it down the middle of the goal. So 2-0, a penalty and a red card, it’s fair to say on another day, Chelsea might well have had a very different scoreline. What does this do for Avram Grant, Andrei Shevchenko and of course, Roman Abramavich? Probably nothing, but let’s hope they lose against Hull on Wednesday, that really will make Jose’s day!

So it’s my first day at work tomorrow, it’s going to be very interesting. I am somewhat ‘nervous’ I suppose. Mostly because I am ‘new’, whereas everyone else knows exactly what they’re getting or expecting. I am sure it won’t take long for me to feel settled, but yeah… It’s a big day tomorrow. I’m sure i’ll blog about ‘the day’ tomorrow. I better get some sleep. :)

Starting a new job is always hard, not knowing what to expect, everyone else knowing each other. I started a new job earlier this year, moving from a small firm of 11 people to a new company of over 100 people, it was a shock to the system especially as I had been at my other job for 7 years, but you soon settle down.
